For the past month, members of Youth Defence have been busy traveling, helping spread the pro-life message around the country, and even traveling to other countries to help grow the Culture of Life.
At the beginning of the month, YD members made a pilgrimage to Our Lady's Island in Wexford to be a part of the pro-life pilgrimage day that is hosted there each year in September. Youth Defence had a stall there and was able to speak with many people about the current push for abortion in Ireland and passed out pro-life leaflets to everyone there, in hopes that they might educate themselves on the pro-life issues and spread the message to their family and friends. It was a beautiful day out and we were blessed to be in attendance.

The following week, a team from Youth Defence made the pilgrimage over to Knock to meet with Cardinal Raymond Burke. Cardinal Burke is a strong advocate for life and has been one of the leading church leaders to speak out against abortion, euthanasia, and the destruction of human life. "It was amazing to meet Cardinal Burke. He is a truly inspiring man of faith and one of the greatest advocates for the Church and the respect of all human life."
Last weekend, Eoghan and Kate of the Life Institute travelled to Berlin to participate in the March for Life and to speak at a pro-life conference for young Germans. There was a great turnout at the March and the our pro-life friends were delighted to see that numbers were up on last year despite harassment from pro-aborts. It was a great experience and really helped us to see how blessed we are in Ireland. Even though we often receive ridicule for our pro-life work, nothing compares to the attacks that the young Germans endure.
Kate of the Life Institute, when speaking to the delegates at the conference following the March, said, "We must stand firm in this battle to protect human life, all throughout the world. We must not be apathetic and we must never back down. Together we can end abortion throughout the world!"
In the coming months, Youth Defence members will be kept extremely busy with speaking engagements, college debates, and workshops.
