Youth Defence members have joined Precious Life in protesting at a conference providing lectures on abortion techniques in Co Down. The conference, hosted by the Family Planning Association and sponsored by the Joseph Rowntree Trust, aimed to teach practitioners about the grisly, ugly business of abortion. The schedule shows that speakers will give training in exactly how to perform suction abortions - tearing the child apart with a vacuum operatus - and discuss the 'techniques' of late abortions.

Speaking from outside the hotel Katie Robinson said that the pro-life protest aimed to make sure the hotel, the abortion providers and the wider community knew that this conference was "utterly unacceptable".
Youth Defence welcomed the statement of the Catholic Bishops, who said they "deplored and opposed" the two-day conference and that the event was designed to undermine the rights and welfare of children in the womb and "normalise what is unacceptable".
Ms Robinson said that the bottom line was that the conference should be closed down. "As Youth Defence said in the Irish Times earlier in the week: 'This is not about free speech, we all support that. This conference aims to explain new developments in abortion techniques – it’s about the grim business of killing unborn children.'"
"Abortion is illegal in this country and the conference organisers and the hotel must respect that,” said Ms Robinson. Many of the speakers are associated with Marie Stopes, the international abortion providers who stand charged with the deaths of many women in Third World countries.
Bernadette Smyth, director of Precious Life in Belfast, said: “These abortionists will in fact be discussing training doctors in Ireland on how to kill babies in both early and late stages of pregnancy.”
The hotel has been inundated with calls objecting to the conference for a fortnight, but they refused to cancel the booking.

I've tried phoning the hotel all morning and each time I tried it seemed the phone lines rang out and then somebody picked up the phone and then slammed it! I finally got through and asked to be put through to the General Manager but it seems the General Manager is hiding behind the switchboard operator and "not available". I stated that I'd written twice about this deplorable conference and telephoned several weeks ago but nobody had had the courtesy to answer me - despite the number of times I provided my telephone number. I've also asked today for the General Manager to phone me back but it's 5 pm already and I really don't hold out much hope. Hastings Hotels can be boycotted my friends! And my gosh, what does the General Manager do when hiding away from the public?

I sent the manager a letter and enclosed a copy of a photo (from a book on the Holocaust (..and God Cried") which showed German soldiers shooting a large group of Jewish women and children, lying naked on a hillside, and drew the comparison of their 'best practice' conferences on how to kill most efficently with the facilities which he was now providing for these abortionist. Both events an abomination before God!

Know this hotel very well and have every intention of boycotting it in future and telling all my friends to do the same.Wonder then how profitable it well be to Mr Hastings when he finds out that he will be losing a lot of business.

I concur with all the previous comments and condemn the action of the management of this hotel group for promoting this most horrible act against the most innocent of human beings. If unborn dogs ,horses or any other animal was treated like the unborn baby there would be a sustained media campaign and it would be outlawed immediately.
