Youth Defence leaders attending the March for Life in Washington are reporting a huge attendance at the 2010 event with hundreds of thousands of people pouring into the Capital from right across the US. "The crowd is enormous, and people are gathering together behind the theme of this year's march: Stand Up Now! Unite for the Life Principles - No Exception! No Compromise," said Katie Robinson of YD. "We're getting a great welcome," she added "When marchers see the Irish flag they salute us as one of the very few countries in the western world to remain abortion-free."
YD and Life Institute have spoken at several key pro-life events leading up to the March, and say the event allows for opportunities for pro-life strategists to share and explore new avenues.
A key issue for marchers is the U.S. health care bill which pro-lifers warn would include federal funding for abortion. Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, said that “with a health care bill that includes taxpayer funding for abortion hanging in the balance, this is an important, historic opportunity to get the attention of politicians in Washington."
"In this critical moment, every American must be heard regardless of where you are," she continued. "How many more lives will be lost if the congressional majority rolls back existing law that protects life and protects us from having our tax dollars used to fund abortion?

I was blessed to be at the March. Glad YD could represent Ireland. The Irish were well represented by YD, HLI (Patrick McCrystal), and Precious Life (Bernie and Maura). Maybe others. I was blessed to speak outside the White House at the Mini-Rally. I called American pro-lifers to pray for a new pentecost in the cause for life, highlighting that what happens in the USA--for good or for ill--happens in the world. I also shared about the mounting anti-life ethos in the Irish government and media. Congressman Trent Franks offered to contact Mary Harney et. al. in an appeal for life.
Keep up the great work!!! God bless

As we see public opinion shift in America, with a majority now pro-life, it seems some folks want Ireland to make the American mistake her own. Why don't our public leaders look to America and the UK to see what a sorry state they are in because of abortion and the general decline in morality as predicted by Pope Paul VI in Humane Vitae, with the widespread acceptance of contraception, along with the abortion, sexual immorality and pornography which it enables?
