WHAT IS YD?

Youth Defence is Ireland’s only pro-life organisation for young people. It is a totally voluntary group dedicated to preventing the destruction of human life from conception. We are a group of motivated independent-minded young people who work to protect unborn children from the horror of abortion.

Youth Defence offers young people an opportunity to become active in the most important cause in the world today. YD gives people the opportunity not only to make a difference in some ones life but to save it. Joining Youth Defence may be the most important thing you will ever do.

Youth Defence was formed in 1992 and have had many achievements to date including:

• Attracting more than 5,000 members to YD within a nationwide branch-structure
• Establishing and maintaining a pro-life majority in Ireland by informing a huge proportion of the population as to the reality of abortion through our educational work and focused Campaigns
• Assisting in the foundation of pro-life groups in other countries from Spain to Australia,
  who are also fighting to protect life in their countries

WHAT DOES YD DO?

Youth Defence works tirelessly to protect human life from conception and to promote a culture of life in this country. We do this in a number of ways including:

• Through educational work on the streets where we meet and speak with the general public and distribute literature which deals with all of the Life Issues
• Through appearing on TV, radio, and in newspapers and by publishing Ireland’s pro-life magazine Solas
• Through building and maintaining innovative and exciting websites to broaden the spectrum
  of people that hear our pro-life message
• Through visiting many towns and cities on our Annual National Information Roadshow
• Through holding regular public meetings and launching national advertising campaigns to reach people who have not yet heard the prolife message
• Through establishing an effective pro-life presence in colleges and giving multimedia presentations and talks in secondary schools.

WHY GET INVOLVED?

Because life is a right not a privilege. This is YD’s motto. We believe that saving innocent unborn
babies from the absolute horror of abortion is the most important work on earth. If we don't try to save these helpless babies, who will? We simply cannot leave it up to anyone else. We need to be united for life in fighting abortion.

YD aims to serve those who are victims of abortion - a dead baby and a grieving mother. Every year 50 million children worldwide are murdered by abortion, that's nearly twice the number of victims of the second world war…. every year. 50 million human beings shown no mercy, granted no justice.

You can help to prevent Ireland from adding to the worldwide sum of this suffering. As young people you must make known your complete rejection of this war against unborn babies. It is your responsibility to ensure that these innocent children are not murdered in the name of choice. The need is great, the time is now, we must rally together in defence of Life!

In this day and age it can become very easy to get caught up in the day to day concerns of life.
Sometimes we get stuck in the rut of working or Studying and doing the same thing week after week, month after month, and the whole time the world and it’s problems are passing us by. We can become spectators rather than participants in life. Why not be part of a group who's work, helps to mould a culture where every human being is valued and protected.

Why not take an active role in society…and change it.
