RESCUE THOSE BEING DRAGGED TO DEATH
Christians are commanded by Proverbs 24: 11-12 to rescue those being dragged to their deaths. Our Lord wants more from us than prayer. He wants us to live our lives as Christians. We have been directly commanded to go forth and rescue those who cannot help themselves. True followers of Christ literally have no choice in the matter
There are several primary means to do this through what pro-life activists call “non-violent direct action." Direct action is born out of love for our unborn brothers and sisters. Direct action involves any peaceful action which will directly hinder the legalisation of abortion.
Youth Defence, since it’s foundation 4 years ago, has done just that by :
- Taking our message to the people, distributing real abortion information to young women and girls on the streets of our cities and towns - young girls who would otherwise NEVER have known of the evil that abortion is.
- Identifying the proponents of abortion and informing the public of who they are by picketing and demonstrating. The media will certainly not tell the Irish people of who is in favour and who is directly responsible for abortion legislation, which will result in the deaths of thousands of our unborn brothers and sisters.
"Faith without works is as dead as a body without breath"
James 2:13
"Take the case, my brothers, of someone who has never done a single good act but claims that he has faith. Will that faith save him? If one of the brothers or one of the sisters is in need of clothes and has not enough food to live on, and one of you says to them, “I wish you well, keep yourself warm and plenty,” without giving them these bare necessities of life, then what good is that?
Faith is like that: If good works do not go with it, it is quite dead... Do realise, you senseless man, that faith without good deeds is useless... You see now that it is by doing something good, and not only believing, that a man is justified....
A body dies when it is separated from the spirit, and in the same way faith is dead if it is separated from good deed”.
"I’LL PRAY FOR YOU...."
As the Communists liked to say, don’t sympathize, organise! If someone says to a pro-lifer, “I’m behind you all the way” it invariably means that they are far enough behind him to avoid any risk to their own lives or jobs etc. We don't want you behind us, we want you with us opposing the slaughter of God's little ones.
As pro-lifers we recognise the importance of prayers, for guidance and protection, for strength in times of crisis. But prayer must not be used as an excuse not to perform good works. To pretend that your prayers alone will save the unborn child is not only an act of cowardice, it makes a mockery of the teachings and the example of Christ.
When Niamh Nic Mhathuna and John Heaney of Youth Defence met with Pope John Paul II in private
audience in August of 1995, he said "Continue in your apostolate and be courageous". He discussed the work of Youth Defence and gave us his support and encouragement.
The Holy Father is a staunch defender of life, speaking out against abortion wherever life is under attack. When speaking to thousands of young people during World Youth Day in Denver 1993, he warned us to "Get out into the streets and trading places" and even more "Woe to you if you do not succeed in defending life". The Vicar of Christ has spoken.
WE MUST FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE OF NO EMPTY PROMISES, NO TOKEN PRAYERS, NO COMPROMISE.
