Niamh Ui Bhriain of the Life Institute has an important article on LifeSiteNews this week. She explains why abortion legislation was not brought forward in the aftermath of the X case, points to the current global push to see abortion legalised in Ireland, and explains what we need to do now to stop that happening.
"It was a Planned Parenthood lawyer, Julie Kay, who described Ireland as "the jewel in the crown" of the pro-life movement. Little wonder then, that the international abortion industry, understanding the global significance of Ireland's ban on abortion, are pouring their vast resources into plans to see abortion legalised here.

For the Irish affiliates to Planned Parenthood, 2012 also has a special significance. This year is the twentieth anniversary of the "X" case, sometimes called Ireland's Roe v. Wade, where a rape victim's case was used to challenge Ireland's pro-life laws."

Ireland has spent 20 years saying so brilliantly that all life matters. In the meantime, in the US, the very fabric of society is falling apart. Now, even conscience clauses will no longer be protected under the new healthcare bill. It's a long, long slide downward for a country once they say that:
"there is no longer equal protection under the law for all."
Please be better than the rest of the west. I don't believe the U.S. will ever recover from this tragedy. And what the so-called objective abortion panel has deadened themselves to see is that now even science is not on their side with ultrasounds, and yes, breast cancer. (Prove abortion doesn't cause breast cancer. Our family ob-gyn says it's very possible.) So tell us, do you care about the women in your lives?

It bemuses me to think that left-wing liberals support right-wing capitalist multi-national corporations make millions out of the deaths of unborn babies. I would say that pro-lifers are the true left-wing liberals - putting people before profit

Well done YD and all who defend Life. It beats me how abortion puts people before profit, abortion kills people.
bama on Feb 12, 2012 3:47pm
Yes OL, I agree with you - if people want to call themselves people before profit they should support the unborn and their mothers from the multi-national money-making corporations. Its ironic that left-wing liberals support money-making capitalism that supports abortion and are part of the elite establishment,

Pro life people should boycott, and withdraw advertising, listenership or other support, from NEARFM radio station. Choice Ireland spokesperson Stephanie Lord was given a completely sympathetic, biased, one sided and unchallenged pro abortion propaganda platform on NEARFM on Sunday 04/12/11 by some NEARFM presenter. Listen and judge yourself. The NEARFM pro abortion mutual admiration group gabfest, came across completely biased and unbalanced, and as pro abortion. Support some other station.

People before Profit should be really honest - and revert to their old name, ditched for marketing purposes - the Socialist Workers Party which supports legal abortion, as do PBP. Now that would be really honest.

I am so grateful for the exceptional women who I've met at Youth Defence. You are heroes to my wife, and me, and our teenagers who want to respect the rights of all and live a good life. As far as I'm concerned, you all have such class and you represent the best of Ireland.
