The Life Institute has said that the rush by Labour and the Irish Times to attack Senator Jim Walsh for describing an abortion was "wholly hypocritical and deeply ironic."
Niamh Ui Bhriain of the Life Institute said that Senator Walsh was to be commended for spelling out the reality of abortion and that it was grossly hypocritical of Ivana Bacik, Eamon Gilmore and others to attack Mr Walsh for revealing the truth about what was being legalised in Ireland.
"Senator Walsh is following in the fine tradition of Wilberforce, O'Connell and other human rights advocates who refused to allow abuses to be covered up. Abortion is a gruesome procedure which ends a human life. Labour support this, Fine Gael have just voted to legalise it without term limits, but they would rather the reality was covered up. Well done to Jim Walsh for refusing to play along with that cover-up," she said.

Senator Walsh had also shown real concern and compassion for mothers hurt by abortion, and had been attacked for doing so by Miriam Lord of the Irish Times. "The irony of a reporter attacking a citizen for telling the truth about a major social issue appears to be lost on the Irish Times, who have abandoned all semblance of impartiality on the abortion issue," she said.
From Senator Jim Walsh in yesterday's debate
So much for claiming the legislation is about protecting women. When we move on to the unborn, obviously they have no chance whatsoever. Sometimes, when we talk about abortion, people are prone to using sanitised language.
I refer Members to Dr. Anthony Levatino, a US obstetrician who performed as many as 1,200 abortions. After his daughter died in a tragic automobile accident, he re-evaluated his position on abortion and stopped performing them. He told members of a Congressional committee they should support a Bill going through and described in detail what abortion is.
He stated:
Your patient has been feeling her baby kick for the last 2 months or more but now she is asleep on an operating room table and you are there to help her with her problem pregnancy. The first task is remove the laminaria that had earlier been placed in the cervix to dilate it sufficiently to allow the procedure you are about to perform. [...] The first instrument you reach for is a 14-French suction catheter. [...] Picture yourself introducing this catheter through the cervix and instructing the circulating nurse to turn on the suction machine. [...] What you will see is a pale yellow fluid that looks a lot like urine coming through the catheter into a glass bottle on the suction machine. This is the amniotic fluid that surrounded the baby to protect her. With suction complete, look for your Sopher clamp. [...] This instrument is for grasping and crushing tissue. When it gets hold of something, it does not let go.
A second trimester D&E abortion is a blind procedure. The baby can be seen in any orientation or position inside the uterus. Picture yourself reaching with the Sopher clamp and grasping anything you can. [...] Once you have grasped something inside, squeeze on the clamp to set the jaws and pull hard - really hard. You feel something let go and out pops a fully formed leg about six inches long. Reach in again. [...] Set the jaw and pull really hard once again and out pops an arm about the same length. Reach in again and again with that clamp and tear out the spine, intestines, heart and lungs.
The toughest part of a D&E abortion is extracting the baby's head. [...] You can be pretty sure you have hold of it if the Sopher clamp is spread about as far as your fingers will allow. You will know you have it right when you crush down on the clamp and see white gelatinous material coming through the cervix. That was the baby's brains. You can then extract the skull pieces. Many times a little face will come out and stare back at you. Congratulations! [....] You just affirmed her right to choose. If you refuse to believe that this procedure inflicts severe pain on that unborn child, please think again.
Colleagues, that is abortion. That is what we are being asked to vote for by the Government. Good people in both Houses are being coerced to abrogate their conscience. I urge Members to follow their conscience for their own peace of mind and not to abrogate it to anybody.

The media should be more objective If they were true professionals, but their stranded are lowest indeed and have shown prejudices, censorship, to mislead public opinion, when a spade a spade that is fact, one should never dress abortion up using fancy words, when it is murder of an human being being torn to pieces and wicket act inhumanity of the littlest unborn children

Like one writer already said, so many people have to be wrong for the Irish Government to be right:
John Paul II, Alvedia King (niece of Martin Luther King), Mother Teresa, the Irish psychiatrists, the nuns who worked the hospitals here, the Didache, Pope John XX111 (beloved by all), leading ob-gyn doctors ---
And not to mention 57 independent studies linking abortion to breast cancer. Want the citations? I've got them. Everyone of these great people have to be wrong for the Irish Government to be right. And that's really just not possible.
Now the question is how costly will this error be to Irish society? Last I checked, we needed future tax payers. Has Enda Kenny and Fine Gael actually done feasibility studies? What will be the results? It seems to be that inequality and strife is breaking out all over. Check out Belfast! Check out Sanford, FL! How are civil rights preserved when some are protected and others are not (i.e. abortion)?
This is a huge mistake, and I fear that some may lose heaven. I pray fervently that God would show mercy. There are profiles in courage who voted for this.

Congratulations to Jim Walsh for spelling it out.

I'm so sick of the Irish Times. It's so easy for them to give other people's rights away. They pick on the pre-born cause they know the pre-born can't fight them back. The Irish Times and its editors are the very height of ignorance. They lack curiosity and intrique. For example there over 50 studies linking abortion and breast cancer. So what they say! Why err on the side of caution? Why respect our own readers? They are cowards, and they are morally weak. They need to eliminate the unborn from behind a curtain. How pathetic. They can't debate because they would easily lose a debate, so they close off the roads of inquiry in a media that they (the elites that they are) control. And they do absolutely prey on the lesser informed.

Jim was not quoting any old pro life view point . He was quoting a medical expert. A doctor, a obstetrician, and an abortion specialist with 1200 abortions to his name. Do people not want to hear the views of the experts? . When u have to run out of the Seanad because the truth is so hard to bear.

Dr. Levitano's testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives can be viewed on Youtube. It is there in full, complete with visual aids. Nobody on Youtube has taken exception to it or expressed shock or complained it was inappropriate. The U.S. House of Representatives didn't react that way either.
Yet we are asked to believe that our politicians and newspaper editors were shocked and found the remarks inappropriate, too graphic etc. etc. The truth is they don't want information like that to reach the public because it would reflect badly on the government's bill. So they attack the messenger.

Amended post both Catholics Presbyterians suffered in penal laws in Ireland impoverished, many went to early grave in 17th 18th Century by British brutal vile Monarch and British empire Government. no human rights or civil rights or religious freedom. Now we have the Irish Government oppression of our people and abortion legislating No human rights for unborn babies targeted selected to be killed up to birth

Thanks for sharing this. Thank you Jim Walsh. The devil has blinded those who wish to be blind. Abortion is prob. the best example of how people can be greatly deceived. I mean how can you support the destruction of a human being? It's amazing. Many of my family members and old friends blindly support this. They have bought into one lie or another to justify their complacency on the issue. People are also defensive when challenged as they know they are wrong to not speak out but just spout the lies they are being fed. Ultimately they hate God and love death as they don't love the Truth. Jesus is the Truth. I'm grateful to know that one day soon He will return and set everything in order. Everyone at the Irish Times will bow the knee and confess Him as Lord. He owns everything and everyone as all authority and judgment has been granted to Him. Repent of your son and believe on the Lord Jesus. Just because you're pro-life does not earn you a place in heaven but rather faith in Him alone....
Proud Irish Christian on Jul 22, 2013 2:30am
Thank God for YD and all the good people who contribute, in fight for life against the culture of death, you are all in grace and will be rewarded in Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Will of God in Lord's prayer-His Kingdom will be on built on Earth because He said "the righteous will be the inheritors of the earth"
It is sad even in some families there are division, that is how the evil Satan spreads death culture, anti Christ to the material weaker water down so called faiths, because they do not love God or follow Him, or love their neighbor, by their fruits He knows them, and according to scripture Jesus said to them "depart from Me you hypocrites" I
Indeed we see with our eyes the rewards of the wicket as in Psalm 91
Mary our blessed Mother among women help us in Name of Jesus, May the Holy Spirit favor us all who believe in Lord Jesus Christ Amen.
When Jesus was dying on the Cross, He said this is Your Son, this is Your mother.
Jesus said to his disciples "blessed are the little children who come on to Me"
The unborn child denied life will be an issue of attack on human rights for the child and also breach of our Constitution. We will pray and continue on our challenge of the danger (abortion) murderers bill.

I see many citizens are concerned on the horror of most dangerous abortion bill being forced into Ireland by the monster, dictator, liar, Enda Kenny,FG/Lab Coalition Government, Senators and politicians, against our citizens of every faiths and none wishes, non Will of God

Well done Jim Walsh for telling the truth about abortion. Prolife posters do the same. Thats why the Labour pro aborts hate the anti-abortion posters and messages.
No wonder Gilmore, Bacik, Daly and the other pro abortion pushers can't let the grisly truth about abortion be told, or shown, to people. They are afraid of the vicious reality of abortion as they campaign for abortion on demand.
Vote the pro abortion pushers out of office every time.
They are political pro abortion fascists who seek to bully and hide the grisly abortion reality. Boot them out.
