Pro-life groups have strongly condemned the Government’s decision to ram through its flawed abortion legislation, labelling it as a “betrayal of unborn children, a betrayal of a party promise and a betrayal of the Irish people”. They have called for the Bill to be put to the people in a referendum under Article 27. Admiration was expressed for the deputies who had put principle before politics to vote No to the bill, while other politicians have been described as 'spineless and amoral' for breaking their pro-life promise.
Speaking outside the Dáil today where the legislation was being discussed, Clare Molloy of Youth Defence described it as a “dark day for Ireland when the legislature close their ears to the medical evidence, turn their backs on the electorate to which they promised no abortion legislation, and have now legalised the death penalty for innocent unborn children."
“This bill is barbaric,” said Ms. Molloy. "As Labour TD Roisin Shortall has pointed out, it has no term limits. It allows for the direct killing of a physically healthy baby being carried by a physically healthy mother and allows it through all nine months of pregnancy”. She continued “what kind of politician or doctors approves the killing of a fully formed human being at 22 weeks by lethal injection to the heart. Our leading doctors are opposing this legislation; because, as one if them told the Oireachtas Committee, the Bill legalises the mindless assassination of innocent human beings”.
“We know that abortion is not a treatment for suicide, the psychiatrists are blue in the face from telling Enda Kenny that, but yet he chooses to ignore this evidence and says his hands are tied by the Supreme Court decision in the X Case. It is now clear that that decision was fundamentally flawed because we didn’t have the evidence that we now know. Clean out your ears Taoiseach, if a decision is wrong then we shouldn’t follow it. The people are the final courts of appeal in this democracy and 86% of us want a referendum” Ms. Molloy concluded.
Niamh Ui Bhriain of the Life Institute said Mr Kenny was acting in an “autocratic and bullying manner and had trampled all over conscience rights by denying a free vote within his party on an issue that was deeply conscientious and on which strong views were held”. She went on to say that the electorate would not forget the vindictive action taken by Mr Kenny in inflicting such harsh sanctions and penalties on those party colleagues who dared to defy his authoritarian whip.
“It disgusts me that the Taoiseach would demand that his party colleagues should vote in favour of this horrific and fundamentally flawed piece of legislation and threaten them with being thrown out of the party if they fail to do so. What kind of a leader is he? What kind of a leader throws a colleague out of the party for doing exactly what they told their electorate they were going to do before election?” she said.
Both the Life Institute and Youth Defence called for a vote on this legislation under Article 27 of the Irish Constitution. They said the huge Rally for Life which attracted 60,000 people last weekend, showed the pro life movement was committed and mobilised and would be now open to the new political alternative created by Kenny's abortion bill.

Minister Creighton, Peter Matthews, Billy Timmons, Brian Walsh and Terence Flanagan have not left Fine Gael - rather they have upheld the Fine Gael commitment. It is important for us to ensure that those FG members "led" by E. Kenny into the pro abortion button push are not mistaken for FG candidates at the next General Election.

What can you say about ignorant lawmakers?
They don't learn from history. They don't learn from other countries where this led to permanent division. They don't learn from experts. They don't even value their heritage, in particular the nuns that worked in the hospitals for nearly nothing to give their parents healthcare. As many have also said, it's quite hypocritical for them to "take" and to enjoy all that this life has to offer while denying someone else even their first birthday. You don't need a Bible or a Catechism to know that is deeply wrong.
No doubt the champagne is still flowing at the Irish Times and with the TDs. And we still don't own our own country as our debt keeps climbing. We're terminating our own citizens while we beg for bread from the EU. What leadership!

Alarming. There is now a broader issue than abortion involved - namely the danger to democracy. The government is not just ignoring, but circumventing the wishes of the electorate and forcing on the country something the majority of people do not want. They cannot be allowed to get away with that. If they do, they will do it again and again on all sorts of issues.

Please Irish People,
Rise up! You are known worldwide as standing for the little guy, the underdog, and the weak. Now you are legalizing stabbing the little guy in the heart or dismembering him (or more often, her) to pieces with scapels and forceps. Save yourself from the horrors that we Americans have suffered with for 50 years since Roe v Wade- 52 million massacres, many by our "Dr" Gosnells, as they struggled for their lives on surgical tables.
Please don't let this happen to you!

Don't believe the lie "pro choice". Pro choice is the very effective lie, but when it comes to the other side, there is no choice, it's there choice. And there choice only! Just as your very brave Lucinda Creighton discovered.
Kate on Jul 12, 2013 7:47pm
Good luck trying to put out that fire! Ireland has been sold to the devil in more ways than one on this decision which doesn't even make any sense. I've heard that Wexford hospital is one of the places chosen to do abortions - I wonder how they will dispose of the little bodies - cremations or milk cartons in freezers like the serial killer in Philadelphia! Now you have legalized serial killers in Ireland - killers of babies.

I note that Minister of Health told Peter Fitzpatrick FG tD that he will not name Doctors publicly who do abortions -ie (murderers) or publish Drs names, because there would be a witch hunt on Doctors.
What does this tell us, faceless Doctors murderers of unborn babies right through pregnancy to birth. 1861 Act repealed offenses against the person Act would be a license for Doctor deaths to kill babies not allowed to live,?were was their protest against abortions of Irish new generation of unborn babies. Doctors GODS have no problem with murder and love money and power
NO MENTION OF HYPOCRITICAL OATH OF PRESERVING LIFE and many Drs choose death culture because they have license by this evil State to kill selected unborn babies or be left with brain damaged injuries would not be jailed, indeed they are criminals that i would personally throw away key and let them rot in prison were they should be. Drs death snubs killers of unborn babies will be identified sooner or later masks removed, it may not have being first time killing or injury of many human beings that does be covered up historically by Doctors protecting their own DRs criminals in their profession.
Savita death was covered up negligence by some pro abortion Drs when our Laws or guidelines were not followed and cause of death was two severe life threatening infections that Galway Hospital missed and incorrect antibiotics used, then her organs shut down and sadly result death, the masters of certain Hosp opinion was for pro abortion and used this death to get abortion here, when it had nothing to do with it. an early intervention of serious miscarriage was allowed on guidelines, but it would not have saved Savita because it was severe infections that shut down any patients organs that ended her life sadly.
We need the vote to get rid of dangerous abortion bill and retain 1861 Act and Health Act 1979. abortion is not a treatment because it is murder of unborn babies by faceless Drs Deaths is greed for money and power over life and death

This legislation was imposed on us against our will and in breach of a solemn election promise. It says a lot about how low Dáil Éireann has sunk, even in the other parties that they would aid and abet this behaviour. It's a great defeat for democracy
Citizens united group opposes culture of death on Jul 14, 2013 2:29pm
There was nothing democratic by dictator monster Taoiseach Enda Kenny who threaten his FG with being expelled if thy voted against abortion Bill.
There are greater risks of women dying from abortion or damaged,as the many increased unborn children murdered, Its a human rights issue and i note bars kept open till after 5;30 AM for TDs during debate and after vote to drown their sorrows the hypocritical voting abortion so evil in Irish Parliament.
What legal action can anyone take for deaths of mothers by abortion, and brain damaged babies if they survived, i note a lethal injection used to kill the 22 weeks unborn baby, this seems to us legalizing of euthanasia,? Drs given License to kill by the State.
Minister of Health Dr Reilly protects Drs and said they will not be named publicly or published. where is the hypocritical Oath to preserve life by Drs now? now there is no trust left between them and many patients? Our new generation of unborn babies targeted to be murdered
There must be challenges to Supreme Court immediately, because bill is unconstitutionally flawed, check SPUC blog get up date by their Consultant Pat Buckley on legality ?

Enda Kenny was carefully selected to be Taoiseach by the powers that be to be such a deceiver. Michael Martin is the same. How did THESE men become the leaders of our main political parties. We need to look at the selection process and who is pulling the strings of power in this country... They have TOO much power. These men are clearly compromised at some personal level. Why would they take such a hard line on this issue. They have blood on their hands and they don't seem to care! Just like Obama, another baby butcher, these men are carefully selected.

IN ORDER FOR THE IRISH GOVERNMENT TO BE RIGHT
And unfortunately there is not much chance of that!

Thank you YD, I am 100% behind you,the five TDs who who voted against the dangerous abortion bill that had suicide intent clause, and repeal of 1861 Act offenses against the person Act and health Act 1979 which leaves unborn completely unprotected and to be Statue law in Ireland is the worse position any State could be, the abandonment of only laws that protect life, and to use sad case of Savitas death assuming that our laws and guides lines caused or contribute to the death is completely false, since

Thank you to the 31 TDs who voted against abortion bill who had convictions, truth and principles.

Dr death the medical professionals reputations become, when they did not protest publicly and say this is not ethical good practice, and say "I shall not kill or obey any State law of this Government on the dangerous abortion legislation, on direct intentional killing of unborn children through all nine months pregnancy up to birth"
Irish women, men for Human Rights on Jul 16, 2013 3:46pm
Hospitals in Ireland facts has had excellent record in care of pregnancy of both mother and babies 3rd highest in world, with lowest maternal deaths yet this reputation has being blown away.
There seems very few TDs or Senators, and Doctors who put this argument forward, nor is there many of them speaking up for the equal rights and human issues of the unborn child in our Constitution. It is noted that many hypocritical Oath of Doctors are materialistic only, forsaking all Drs previously swore preservation of life are pro abortion promoting with-pro abortion government are more interested in protected by the State, in bill abandonment of medical ethics, and 1861 Act offenses against the person also 1979 Health Act, facts are there are no argument for pro abortion expert liars abusing their profession as to-facts by experts pro life Drs and Organizations. One can not trust all Doctors as generous kind, and honest with to much power as this Government, when they are being treated as Gods on life and deaths issues.
This Government wants more power to control our lives and it will be worse if they get away with abortion bill, and their elitists greed policies on our country to date means more lies spin when our economy will not recover.
Joan on Jul 16, 2013 6:55pm
We have the worse Irish elitist, materialistic, politicians of many harden TDs and Senators full of injustice corruption and no human rights for selected unborn children targeted by kill bill legislation of murder of babies up to birth, while those elitists sit in Senate or Government majority who are the wicket me me aggressive pro abortion lobby liars deliberately misleading leading upper House and lower House.

I would like to remind you that suicide is NOT a quantitative scientific research issue, it is a qualitative subjective one. Yes, there is no medical evidence that abortion, or indeed any specific course of action either is or isn’t a solution to it. You are correct here, but are incorrect when you keep treating suicide as a medical scientific issue. It isn't.
However, nobody can say in absolute terms that abortion is never a solution like you continually claim. Every case is unique, valuable in its own right and must be treated individually. Psychiatrists have the knowledge, skills and expertise to deal with each individual case as they see fit. They make the final call.

For the rest of his life, he will be known as 'ENDA LIFE KENNY'. This is an absolute outrage on some many levels. The Law of God, the God of our ancestors, the God of Moses, Abraham decreed 'Thou Shall Not Kill'. Who does ENDA LIFE Kenny and those 'elected' representatives think they are to know better than our Almighty God.Our forefathers starved, suffered, were martyered, slaughtered innocently for our Faith, our trust in God and His commandments. Our Land of Saints and scholars has been shamed by this action from EK and his cohorts. An outrageous and cowardly, devish act of betrayal of all that Ireland has held dear for centuries to be overturned! May God in His mercy, protect and defend us from this.
