Today, Friday, March 5 1993, Youth Defence placed a picket on the Four Courts, exactly one year to the day that abortion was legalised in Ireland by the Supreme Court against the wishes of the Irish people as expressed in the referendum of 1993.
We believe that the evidence in the "X" case was flawed to an extent which enabled our Supreme Court to carry out one of the greatest injustices against the Irish race, which will allow the slaughter of countless children before they are born in abortion mills in Ireland.
50 million human babies are slaughtered worldwide each year for profit. Thousands of mothers also die. Our meeting today commemorates little baby "X" who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court.
The people of Ireland must be allowed to enshrine in their constitution the fundamental right of all - the right to life from conception to natural death.
This can only be obtained by a means of a clearly defined referendum with a wording such as :
"No law shall be enacted for the provision of abortion"
We now call on the Irish government to fulfil their duty as our elected representatives and grant us a pro-life referendum.
