On Monday, the 2nd of July, members of the pro-life group Youth Defence, will begin their 11th National Information Roadshow. During this 10 day roadshow Youth Defence will be visiting 18 towns and cities while distributing leaflets, our now famous "Life Book" and collecting signatures calling for a pro-life referendum. Please find attached a list of the towns and cities that this roadshow will be visiting.
Youth Defence believes strongly in direct action- a strategy of bringing truthful information on abortion to those who need it most. We know that the only way to educate the public as to the reality of abortion is to actually go out on to the streets and tell them. This is precisely what we will be doing on this years roadshow. We intend to set up an information stand in each town which will display information about the development of the child in the womb, descriptions of abortion procedures and helpful medical and psychiatric information. This year Youth Defence are making a special effort to clarify the fact that abortion is never a medical necessity and is not regarded as medical treatment. We realise the danger that would be in store for Irish unborn babies if the Irish people were in anyway confused regarding the difference between medical treatment and abortion.
As well as educating the public we will also have, another leaflet specially designed to urge people to ring or write to their local TD's and tell them that they are absolutely opposed to any form of abortion in Ireland and that they want a pro-life referendum, which will absolutely ban abortion.
Public meetings will also be conducted in each town. At these meetings Youth Defence members will speak on issues such as woman's health, Life before birth and the aims and objectives of the organisation. A short video will accompany this talk. These meetings will be held directly after the Information Session and will take place in venues central to the town.
