Youth Defence said today that they were absolutely outraged by allegations in the Irish Times that they had any relationship whatsoever with any German right wing organisation. In a statement, the organisation categorically denied that they had any links with the NDP or its Youth wing, the Young National Movement, and that the pro-life organisation had never had any correspondence in any form with either party. Youth Defence exists to protect women and children from abortion, it does not support or approve of any party or organisation who would hold views contrary to that position.
Youth Defence are sick and tired of attempts to discredit the organisation by alleging links with various parties. One month the media claims we are republicans hiding guns under the bed, the next month we are right wing sympathisers. The truth is that Youth Defence has no links to any other organisation save for it's sister group in the North of Ireland who, in similar fashion, campaign exclusively on pro-life issues.
Youth Defence are a highly respected pro-life organisation whose skill in strategy and communications attracts much attention worldwide. While other organisations may recognise that, it does not mean that Youth Defence supports or has links with said organisations. This has been explained and clarified before, but nothing seems to get through the extraordinarily thick skulls of the abortion-supporters in the Irish media. This is yet another attempt to shoot the messenger.
