Youth Defence today warned against any decision being made by the Midland Health Board that would result in the death of an unborn child. The group also expressed serious concerns about the welfare of the 14 year old girl in their care, given that she became pregnant while in the custody of the Midland Health Board.
Chairperson of Youth Defence, Mr. Eoghan de Faoite said today, “This case must be resolved in a manner that will prevent a tragedy for this girl and her unborn child. Shipping this girl over to England to have her baby killed is certainly not the answer and this action won’t help anyone.”
From the tragic ‘C’ case in 1997 Youth Defence have learned, at first hand, just what kind of “care” these girls are receiving when they are being held by the Health Boards. We will never forget the audacity of the Eastern Health Board who used the interim care order, granted to protect Miss C from the rapist, to deny her parents access to their own child.
Eoghan de Faoite said, “I would seriously question what kind of care this girl is under. Facilitating in the death of her unborn child does not strike any right thinking person as proper care. This case brings to mind the tragic ‘C’ case of 1997 in which Youth Defence were heavily involved. This girl was forced over to England to have an abortion and the consequences of this were devastating.”
Youth Defence are outraged that the State should continue to conspire in the deaths of innocent unborn children. Earlier this year we saw the East Coast Area Health Board and the South Eastern Health Board each take a girl in their custody to England for abortions. What kind of care, what kind of state protection is this?
Eoghan de Faoite concluded, “Youth Defence will not tolerate such blatant and shameless abuse by the Health Boards of their legislative functions. We vow to make known our complete rejection of the Health Boards actions and will continue to work towards ending state sponsored murder”
