Youth Defence today criticised abortion fanatic Ms Ivana Bacik and the abortion pushers in the Irish Family Planning Association on their call for abortion on demand in Ireland. This call comes despite Ms Bacik’s own acknowledgement in the July 2003 edition of Magill magazine that her desire to see abortion being widely available in Ireland is “not one shared by the majority of the Irish people.”
Eoghan de Faoite, Chairperson of Youth Defence said today, “I find it wholly outrageous that this so called “charity” would have the audacity to override the wishes of the Irish people and call for abortion on demand in Ireland. The IFPA need to learn to understand the workings of a democracy and respect the wishes of the electorate who continually reject abortion, instead of trying to force their own liberal agenda”
This afternoon, 10 members of Youth Defence disrupted a press conference of the IFPA in the Westin Hotel, Dublin which they were using to launch their ‘abortion on demand’ campaign . The demonstration, despite the violence and physical threats portrayed by the pro-abortion campaigners, was highly successful. Youth Defence ensured that the voice of the Irish pro-life majority, the voice of all the unborn children who are in danger of being killed by abortion and the voice of women who are exploited at the hands of abortion facilitators were made known to the abortion advocates inside. The protest continued until such time as we were confident that the abortion extremists were fully aware of the opposition to their ruthless demands and the group then left voluntarily.
In relation to this Mr De Faoite said; “No civilised society should let people away with plotting the killing of it’s people, especially the most innocent and vulnerable ones. This is exactly what the abortion extremists in the IFPA were doing today in the Westin hotel. Youth Defence will continue to work against these abortion pushers for the full protection of both mother and child and we are confident that they will never gain the support of the people when they call for the killing of innocent children in this country”
Despite repeated attacks on the unborn since 1983, including numerous court challenges, and referenda proposed by the Governments of the time to weaken the legal protection for the Irish unborn, the Irish people have remained steadfast in their commitment to protect Life. Most recently, in March of last year, the Government again tried to hoodwink the Irish people into inserting into our Constitution an amendment to lessen the existing legal protection for Irish unborn. Youth Defence commend the Irish people for not yielding to this blackmail and instead voting to retain the existing protection for Irish unborn children.
Eoghan de Faoite concluded; “It is my certain belief that the opposition of Irish people to abortion remains as solid now as it ever was. The ongoing campaigns of Youth Defence over the past 12 years have served to ensure that there will always be a pro-life majority in this country.”
Youth Defence, intend to continue their highly effective campaigns and initiatives to ensure that Ireland remains abortion free.
