Roe v Wade plaintiff to speak at pro-life Rally for Life
Face painting, balloons, and a chance to hear the pro-life testimony of a woman whose court case caused abortion to be legalized across the US. It's all at the Rally for Life in Dublin this Saturday, July 4th.
The organizers of Saturday’s All Ireland Rally for Life say momentum is building for the event, which hopes to be the largest the pro-life public gathering for over fifteen years. Face painting and entertainment has been booked for families with children, and the line-up of speakers for the event include Norma McCorvey (the Jane Roe of the US Roe v Wade case which legalized abortion across the States) and some of Ireland’s best known pro-life leaders.
“This is an important and significant event, and we’re urging people to make a special effort to come, and show their support for Life” said Niamh Uí Bhriain of the organizing committee. “It’s going to be a great day out for the pro-life community; lots of fun for children and families, with young and old joining together to show solidarity with the unborn, with mothers, and with those who are most vulnerable.”
Pro-life leaders have said that the need for unity and solidarity is crucial at this time with threats to the right-to-life now coming in myriad forms right across Ireland. “We’re dealing with an attempt by the Department of Health in the north to introduce abortion on broad grounds by attempting to introduce new so-called abortion guidelines,” said Bernie Smyth leader of the northern group Precious Life, who is bringing a large contingent to the Rally in Dublin.
Niamh Uí Bhriain also pointed to the push for embryo research in UCC, the abortion case being sponsored by the Irish Family Planning Association before the European Court of Justice, the HSE’s recent comments regarding abortion and disabled children, as serious matters of concern. “The majority of people in this country are pro-life,” she affirmed. “But we need to make sure our voices are heard for the unborn, since together we are the voice for the voiceless.”
