PR: Abortion Survivor Speaks at NUIG

25.11.2005

Ultrasound, the pro-life student network, are delighted to announce that Gianna Jessen spoke to hundreds of students in the University of Galway this evening. Ms Jessen, who has testified before the US Congress, survived a saline abortion at seven months and is in Ireland as a guest of Ultrasound, touring universities and colleges.

Ultrasound had booked a theatre in NUIG for this evening, but a university  administrator told them this week that the booking would be cancelled. No  satisfactory reason had been given for the cancellation and this evening, hundreds of students turned up to the theatre to hear Ms Jessen’s amazing story.

As security guards had locked the theatre door, Ms Jessen delivered an impassioned address from the balcony of the lobby to the assembled students who gave her a warm reception. She received sustained applause throughout her speech. Carolyn Johnston of Ultrasound said it was a victory for free speech and the right of  this incredible woman to be heard.
